Foods rich in folic acid and other B vitamins such as bananas, pineapples, and apricots help reduce the risk for osteoporosis related fractures.

B-Vitamin Shake it up:

1/2 cup pineapple juice

1/4 cup soy milk

1 cup pineapple (remove rind)

1/4 cup apricots (remove pitts)

1 ripe banana

1 TBLS wheat germ

2 TSP flaxseed

1 TSP cod liver oil

Blend all ingredients…serves 4

Yogurt is also one of my favorite foods high in B12, riboflavin, potassium, magnesium and zinc. Yogurt is easy to digest thanks to live cultures, even if you are lactose intolerant. As a bonus a daily dose may completely eliminate gas problems. Yogurt is not only a good source of calcium but helps improve calcium absorption. People at risk for osteoporosis should consider including a portion in their daily diet.

Uglow Medical is always looking for easier ways to have your foods and vitamins work with you to provide the best “absorbtion” possible.
